Sharon Chuter and Jackie Aina have a message for beauty brands: #PULLUPORSHUTUP
Influencer Jackie Aina and Uoma Beauty Founder Sharon Chuter started a hashtag movement for beauty brands called Pull Up or Shut Up. Brands have been asked to show how many black employees are on their exec teams. Brands have been making posts in 'solidarity' with the black community, however, when Black Lives Matter isn't the current trending topic they show little to no support for black creators who are the very reason for their success. Black lives don't just matter when it's trending, we matter every day and everywhere so it's only right brands show just how much black lives matter to them IN THE WORKPLACE.
Of course, not all brands participated and some brands tried to play around the question by showing numbers of POC members, not specifically black, and even tried incorporated numbers for other areas of the company to increase numbers. Here's a list of the brands who were honest and PULLED UP:

So as you can see, these brands activism goes as far and a black square. Most of these brands have pledged to be more diverse within the workplace and executive teams so we should be seeing a change coming soon. As a loyal customer to lots of brands, it definitely hurt seeing some of these numbers and I will be holding these brands accountable. Until then, I think its best for us to spend our coin where it is welcomed, black-owned businesses.
